Your Christmas Wish List

Every Road Warrior worth their salt has a variety of sales tools where their files live. Which means having a fast and dependable syncing program is a must. Dropbox fills this role nicely with an iPad app that compliments your desktop and other mobile devices. Dropbox for the iPad features a simple interface, easy uploading, and swift syncing across all of your devices. Overall, Dropbox is an excellent, affordably priced app because it is free if you need only 2G or less of space, (and as we all know, free is very affordable) for the Road Warrior who’s on the go.

If you plan to be a heavy Dropbox user the Pro50 plan can manage up to 50G for $9.99 per month or the Pro 100 plan handles 100G of storage for $19.99 per month. There is also a Team account for up to five users and serves over 350G at $795 per month.

For my use, the free version (2G) of Dropbox is a perfect fit so far. You might consider a paid account if you use and view a lot of machine videos with your customers from your devices. Right now, I have over one hundred files in my Dropbox folder, and I have not come close to my 2G limit. When opening the app on your iPad, you’ll find all folders listed in alphabetical order (the same as your desktop folder). Sharing is also very easy with Dropbox for the iPad; simply highlight a file, then tap the link icon on the home screen. Once that’s done, you’re provided with an option to “email link”.

What I love about Dropbox is that it is very easy to drag pdf versions of presentations, brochures, pricing and other sales materials into the Dropbox app on my desktop, then open the Dropbox app in my iPad. I’ll then open a pdf and add it to my iPad bookshelf. Once I have a file there, I can open a presentation, a brochure, a machine video, or a quote instantly. Customers are very impressed with how fast you can go from one presentation piece to another, and back again.

The important stuff you need can be there for you, wherever you are. Files you saved on one computer can be accessed on all of your devices, automatically.

Dropbox makes no distinction between computer platforms, so it doesn’t matter if you create an original file on a Mac or a PC, and once you place a file in Dropbox, if you make a change to the file on one device, Dropbox updates it for you everywhere. Dropbox for the iPad is a Road Warrior “Must Have”. To reach The Road Warrior in the office or on the road, contact Steve Lesnewich.
