Are You All Thumbs Like I Am? Answering e-mails on your smart phone or iPad can be a real chore when you are on the road. iPad and other electronic tablets are the greatest sales tools ever, but like every great product, there are limitations. Did you ever try to write and send an e-mail when riding in a train or riding as a passenger with someone in a car? Sentences like this are typical: “Wiiiith reggardd to you quetin reeeeegardinng…”The same thing happens in a terminal or on an air plane with little or no turbulence. “Gibberish”. That’s where the Menotek Flexible Bluetooth Waterproof Mini Keyboard is so great. It is ultra portable yet the raised keys are not as touch sensitive as the keyboard on an iPad. Pairing your keyboard to your iPad is easy. The keyboard is easy to pack and because it’s flexible, as well as skid resistant, you can type on uneven surfaces. The rechargeable battery will last through a full day of conferences. The list price on for the Menotek keyboard is $79.00, but you can find it on sale on Amazon for as low as $32.98 or as low as $29.99 on deals.woot.com.To connect your Menotek keyboard to your iPad, simply turn on the bluetooth on the iPad, turn on the power on the keyboard, and press “connect” on the keyboard. The red light will start blinking and keep blinking until the device is either synched with your iPad or it times out (at which point, you’ll want to start the process over). Then, have the iPad search for bluetooth devices, select the keyboard after your iPad finds it. Then the iPad will give you a code to type on the bluetooth keyboard using the number keys on the keyboard, then you simply press the “Enter” key when you are done. The two devices should be connected at that point. The real test for the Menotek keyboard came during a weekend on Keuka Lake in upstate New York. On a powerboat, on a windy day with lots of waves and spray, (I did cover my iPad in plastic). I also kept the Menotek Keyboard outside, on the deck, with me and the elements. The results were amazing. Of course, when airborne, I did have a hard time typing and staying in the boat. But overall I could type fairly easily and yes, it really is water resistant from spray, waves, and a Corona Light with a slice of lime that I tried to balance on the deck next to the key board. The Menotek Flexible Bluetooth Waterproof Mini Keyboard works with Apple iPad and iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab, Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom and iPhone 4/4G, Windows, Mac, and Linux. I highly recommend this little gem, it will make your life easier. |
